Ok, so for us uninformed. What's non-binary?
Hey! Thanks for asking. Non-binary is an umbrella term for any gender that lands outside of the gender binary (man/woman). Some examples of nonbinary genders are: agender, androgynous, genderneutral, genderfluid, two-spirit, hijra. Sex/gender assigned at birth does not affect whether or not some one identifies as nonbinary. So anyone, from intersex, to female, and male people can identify as nonbinary if they feel it fits their gender identity. Some nonbinary people are trans and some are not. Some nonbinary people go through medical transitioning, and some only go through social transitioning. It all depends on the individual. Some nonbinary identities only exist in specific cultures, like two-spirit refers to the nonbinary gender that exists within the united states indigenous peoples cultures. Only those who belong to that culture can technically be two-spirit.
Im personally agender/androgynous, meaning I dont identify as a man or woman or with really any gender at all. I feel like I exist in a grey area. I was assigned female at birth though so that's why I say female on my profile. Unfortunately in this industry there is only one connotation to the word "trans" and knowing this, it would be misleading for me to tag myself as that here.
Hope that helps! Feel free to ask any more questions you may have.
