Some of the consequences from this fight may have been:

• Arrests at customs on entering a country
• Deportation from a country
• Real names being revealed online
• Family, friends and/or colleagues being contacted to inform on an individual's activity

Nasty stuff. In fact, it's amazed how bad a conflict can get (there is worse than is above, but we don't want to make this too specific).
